Little Miss Daisy has come into care due to her very loving family no longer being able to provide her the company she needs. Daisy just LOVES her humans, so much so, that she quickly becomes stressed and sad if left alone and she will bark excessively if lonely. Daisy absolutely needs, and deserves, a family or carer who is home almost all the time, another small dog for company, or someone who can take Daisy with them on outings.
Daisy is perfect at traveling in the car – she just needs a little help in and out if the seat is high. She sits beautifully on the seat (or a lap) and is no fuss, even on longer trips. Daisy can be quite resourceful about finding a way out of her yard in her search for company, so she will need secure fencing, not necessarily high, just with no small gaps. She can squeeze through a surprisingly small space when motivated.
When she has company, she has no interest in escaping. Daisy has sensitive skin and will need regular baths with a specialised shampoo to keep her comfortable and, luckily, she’s the perfect size for a quick bath in the laundry tub. Daisy may require occasional treatment with ear drops. Daisy’s coat will require grooming to keep that fur out of her cute little face and have her looking her best. She can be timid with the groomer but is very tolerant, as she is with everyone.
On the plus side, her fur does not shed, so she won’t cover you or your furniture with fluff! Daisy is perfectly toilet trained and is fine with the doggy door. If there is no doggy dog - she will wait at the door to be let out. She can manage stairs well and doesn’t hesitate to jump on the bed or couch when invited. If the bed is particularly high – it may take her a couple of goes to get up – so she may appreciate a lift up from you or doggy stairs. Daisy will happily go for walk, but she doesn’t require much exercise. She walks very well on the lead and likes to say hello to most people she sees with a wag of her tail. Daisy likes other small dogs (and cats) but is reactive to medium and large dogs.
Daisy was recently attacked by a larger dog on a walk, so her reaction is understandable. She will bark and growl at any dog larger than her and needs to be led away in this situation. We think Daisy would love the company of another dog of a similar size – in foster she’s made friends with both neighbour’s small dogs and she’s even won over the resident cats with her laid back, gentle manner. Daisy has some clouding in her eyes and with think her hearing isn’t as sharp as it once was. She can hear loud sounds, but she isn’t always responsive to voices.
Otherwise, she is great shape (be it a slightly round shape!). In return for your love and care, Daisy will give you unconditional love and devotion. She is great with every human she meets and just wants someone to she can be near and to give her the occasional pat or cuddle. Daisy is a ‘velcro’ doggie and just wants to sit near you, sleep near you and know where you are. She isn’t jumpy or excitable when with you, just happy to sit and nap or trot along on a walk. She isn’t one for chasing balls or toys, but will happily explore the yard, if she knows you’re not too far away.
Daisy isn’t particularly fussy with food. She’s doesn’t have a huge appetite, even though she’s a little portly - except maybe when it comes to the cat’s tuna – she loves that! She has lovely table manners and doesn’t try to steal your food, even when near you on the couch etc. Daisy is the sweetest little lady and has nothing but love to give to the person or family that can offer her the right home where she has adequate company and care.
MEDICAL NOTES: Sensitive Skin - Daisy has sensitive skin and will require baths in medicated shampoo regularly.
BEHAVIOURAL NOTES: Daisy does not like big dogs and will require a home with only a small dog. Daisy also has severe separation anxiety so requires an owner who is home most often.
